Refuge in Him (Psalm 91:4)

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart - Psalm 91:4

We were not created to go through this life apart from the protection of God.

Just as a baby chick was not created to leave the protection of its mother immediately upon birth, if we step outside of God's will for our lives, we should only expect danger and destruction.

However, the difference between birds and us is that we never outgrow our need for God. We never get to a point where we can leave Him and find our own way.

In this world, we must constantly depend on God for guidance, sustenance, peace, and joy. And the more we depend on Him for these things, the more these things become a part of our own identity.

We must remember that there is real spiritual evil in this world, and it wants nothing more than to destroy us.

Many modern people struggle to believe in such a thing as the devil. However, anyone who disbelieves in the presence of evil in our world has not studied history or ever turned on the news.

There is evil all around us. And without the divine covering of God, we are sitting ducks.

When we are covered by the protection of God, it does not mean that nothing bad can happen to us; it simply means that nothing that happen to us that God does not allow. And if God allows it, then we can be confident that He is using it to bring about greater good in our lives.

There is truly nothing to worry about in this life when we abide under the all-powerful protection of Jesus Christ. The devil has been defeated by the power of the Cross, and we have been given a share in this victory.

May we never cease rejoicing in this reality, and may we always find our home under His mighty wings.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem,

you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,

how often I have longed to gather your children together,

as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,

and you were not willing.

Matt 23:37
